I was curious when you were diagnosed with IC? I too am an IC victim (hehe)
Hi Heather! Recently- you can even see a change in my recipes. I've had symptoms for about 3-4 years though. I'm fortunate that it's not as bad of a case as some but it has definitely been getting increasingly worse. I have always been a health nut because I thought that by controlling my diet I could control the mystery symptoms I was going through... I just didn't understand why my plant based diet (tomatoes, citrus, cacao, jalepenos) wasn't making me feel amazing. Been controlling it with diet and though it's not perfect I notice a solid difference already. Blessed to be a foodie and given a diagnoses that can be treated with diet alone...however restrictive. How about you? What's your IC story?
My IC "journey" started whenever I had a UTI that took a LONG time to go away but it finally did. (Did not know it was IC. I apparently went into remission and then 6 months later got ANOTHER UTI and well it never went away. The symptoms that I have are the urgency to go and a bladder spasm type thing. Nothing major but it drives you CRAZY!! I caught it early so that is good. I have a friend that didn't can't hers for like 2 years and its really painful for her. I went to see a urologist and he diagnosed me with IC and put me on the IC friendly diet and I can try things and if I obtain symptoms put that on the no no list and don't eat them until I am more healed. I am also taking 6 aloe Vera pills a day. They're a special brand I can tell you the name once I get home. It seems to be working but then I will try something and have symptoms and take a few days to go away. It's the most frustrating condition and discouraging too. But in learning to cook and I eat SO health now (with the exception if homemade desserts. Haha.) but that's my story. I have been living with it for almost 3 months and I just want it gone so fingers crossed that it will get better and better
That's actually a lot like me. My really harsh symptoms have kind of come and gone over the last few years but this year alone I've had like 3 bad flares...yikes. I take aloe too! Georges... about 2-4 oz every night. The diet is sometimes rough but probably better for us in the long run. I'll try to keep posting any fun IC friendly recipes I come up with :)
